Quick Tips

Ctrl+Alt+Del to Log On – Windows 7

If you’re looking to add an extra layer of security to your Windows 7 system, then you may want to consider implementing a bit of a “human touch”, just to be extra sure.

By requiring users to physically hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to access the log on screen in windows, you ensure that malicious programs (ones that try to mimic a system logon to hack passwords) can’t even make it through the front gate.

Here’s how you do it:

Hit Start, and in the search box type netplwiz – click the icon that appears in the list above.

Once the User Accounts window opens up, click the Advanced tab. At the bottom you’ll see the Secure logon field. Put a check in the box next to Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete

Hit OK, and you’re all set! If you want to go back to a Ctrl+Alt+Delete-free world again, just follow these steps and un-check the box!

"Everyone Wants My Earbuds!"

Your Poor Ears Haven't LIVED - Till They've Tried On These Babies!

Bendy-z

Take One Part Absolutely Remarkable Sound, One Part Ultra-Comfort...

And You Get THESE Phenomenal Earbuds!

Noise Reduction! Extra Bass!

Sends Every Other Set Of Earbuds Cryin' For Their Mommas!

If you've ever tried to listen music with hard plastic earbuds, you've probably had the same gripes that I've had with 'em. Yeah, they're lightweight but the trouble is your ear has to be just the right size to fit them. You have to jam them in your ear - hoping and praying that they stay. But they always end up falling out... so you have to jam 'em so far into your ear that they're REALLY uncomfortable.

That's why I was so excited found the PERFECT solution! We've just come across an incredible set that sound GREAT (YES...they're STEREO, have EXTRA BASS & are NOISE REDUCTION! ) and are VERY comfortable.

Let's face it, if earphones aren't comfortable, who cares how they sound, cuz you'll never wear 'em to ever find out! Well, these stream-lined earphones really deliver not only on great sound but comfort too!

Here's why these Stereo Earbuds work:

Each earpiece features a soft silicone earpad and they will fit in almost any ear. They create a slight suction - so when you place the earpiece in your ear it stays there ...comfortably, and doesn't fall out!

These truly are a have a great set of earphones that you can take where ever you go! In fact, you can use these at your computer desk if you're working on your computer late at night or early in the morning and you need to keep the sound down.

And the cord is long enough (4 foot) without being too long so as to get tangled and in the way (another small point but something I've noticed as a problem with other earphones I've tried!)

And in case you were wonderin', this is the common plug (3.5 mm) that fits into the front and your computer and most other audio devices, like portable radios, laptops, cd /dvd/mp3 players, iPods etc.

Do NOT let the low price fool you on this. We just happened to get a great deal on these so we're passin' along the savings! Believe it or not, today these are just $8.31 and shipping in the US is FREE!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/6928

PS - At this price, might want to consider picking up 2 or three of these so you have one at your computer, one in the car and one you can stick in your pocket or purse for walks or bike rides!

Warning - This price is set to increase soon! Don't pay $14.97 for 'em later - grab 'em today!

Don't forget! Every order* gets a killer LED Keychain Flashlight FREEBIE!

If You Have ANY USB Devices - PAY ATTENTION!

You Can Now Charge Your Devices Both at Home AND in Your Car...

WITH THE SAME POWER ADAPTER!

The New ZipKord Charger is About to Blow Your Mind!

DID YOU CATCH THAT?

One Charger. AC Adapter for Wall Outlets. DC Adapter for Car Charging.

100% PURE CHARGING FREEDOM!

Why? Because 2 Power Adapters is 1 Too Many!

GREEN LED INDICATOR LIGHT!

AC Plug Folds in For Car Use and MAXIMUM Portability!

Chargers...EVERYWHERE!

You're used to it by now, right? You have a cell phone charger that plugs into the wall at home. You have an iPod charger that connects to your computer. You have a battery charger for your digital camera. How many others?

So let's say you're on a road trip and your iPod dies before you reach your destination. Oh, and your phone is down to one bar on the battery. To charge either one of these, you need to be at home where you have a wall outlet (or your computer for your iPod). What do you do? You drive in silence and turn your phone off. That certainly sucks, doesn't it?

Now You Can Charge ANYTHING...ANYWHERE!

The ZipKord USB AC/DC Power Adapter is an AMAZING new charger that allows you to charge your USB devices both at home AND in the car!

It's a PERFECT hybrid of two chargers that we ALL have to use to keep our devices charged. So now instead of having a bunch of them laying around, you can just keep one - and bring it with you EVERYWHERE!

Imagine NEVER worrying about your devices running out of battery power again - whether you're at home OR on the road!

How's it Work? LIKE A DREAM!

It's SIMPLE! As you can see from the picture above, there's an AC plug meant for charging through an outlet, AND there's a DC plug that goes directly into your cigarette lighter in your car!

Now, no matter where you are, your devices won't run outta juice! There's a single USB port on the top of this bad boy, so whatever USB device you have, it'll charge! All you need is your USB Power Cord that came with whatever device you're charging, then BAM! You're powering up your device!

WORKS ON ANYTHING THAT CHARGES VIA USB!

iPods & MP3 Players!

Cell Phones!

GPS!

Digital Cameras!

ANYTHING that charges via USB!

This thing is even iPhone 3G compatible! Talk about being up to date!

IT DOES WHAT? IT FOLDS!

As if this thing could get ANY better - it does! That wall outlet would be quite a pain, but guess what? IT FOLDS IN when you're not using it! So when you're charging in the car, you fold the AC plug in and it's like it's not even there! This is also PERFECT when you're traveling!

Maximum Storage, Maximum Portability, HUGE Power!

So what USB devices do you have? DOESN'T MATTER - it'll charge it up with speed!  Whatever USB device you throw at it - it'll charge in no time! Oh, the green LED light will be lit up when you're charging a device, so you'll know it's working!

The PERFECT Charger at an AMAZING Price!

How much do you think you'd pay for one of these at your local box store, say Best Buy or Radioshack?  Oh, somewhere around $30 AT LEAST! But not at Worldstart...

Today, this REVOLUTIONARY home AND car charger hybrid can be yours for just $12.31 with FREE US SHIPPING!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/7479

You better act fast, this price won't last forever and will go up soon!

Don't forget! Every order* gets a killer LED Keychain Flashlight FREEBIE!

Computers 101

Cleophus from Columbus, Ohio asks:

How can I change the font size when using Google Chrome?

This is a question that comes up a lot. Whether you have a small screen, experience vision problems, or just encounter a page with small text, there will come a time when you won’t be able to read the information presented on a website. Luckily, with today’s highly-customizable Internet browsers, you don’t need to strain your eyes.

The easiest and quickest way to increase the size of a webpage is to use the “zoom” function. The simplest way to access this is by holding down the “Ctrl” key and pressing the “+” key on your keyboard. This will increase the size of everything on the page by ~20%. You can press this keyboard shortcut as many times as you’d like to get the desired amount of “zoom” necessary to properly view the webpage. Conversely, you can decrease the size of everything by holding down the “Ctrl” key and pressing the “-“ key on your keyboard. If you don’t like keyboard shortcuts, you can manually adjust the zoom function by visiting the wrench menu (accessible by clicking the “wrench” icon at the top right corner of your screen).

Although this is the quickest way to increase and decrease the size of everything on the page, many people only wish to increase the size of the font without adjusting other elements of the page like the images. Luckily, Google Chrome comes with a very simple way to do just that.

Start by opening up the wrench menu and selecting options.

GoogleChrome--Options

Then, select the “Under the Hood” tab and look to the section called “Web Content.” From here, you can adjust the font using preset options (very small, small, medium, large, very large) or you can even select “Customize Font” for even greater control over the font size.

GoogleChrome--Font Size

And there you have it. If you simply encounter the odd webpage that looks too big or too small, you should probably simply use the “zoom” function to make the entire page larger or smaller (Ctrl + and Ctrl – respectively); however, if you find yourself having to do this time and time again and you don’t wish to re-size the media on the page, it’s best to adjust the font size using the instructions above.

Don’t strain your eyes! Always adjust the font settings and let Google Chrome do the work for you.

MS Word: How To Ensure That Your Formatting Is Kept When You Copy And Paste Text

When you copy and paste text, do you ever find yourself wondering why sometimes certain formatting traits were pasted with the text and at others aren’t?

It can seem sort of random to most people… and random is frustrating.

Well, here’s the truth. It’s not random. The key to controlling the formatting when you paste, regardless of the default settings, is actually hidden from view.

No, that’s not a riddle… it truly is hidden because the formatting you’re looking to keep is stored in the hidden paragraph mark found at the end of each paragraph.

Tip of the Day

Extracting Selected Pages from a PDF Document

In recent years, the PDF document file format has become the standard to use when sending any manner of documents via e-mail or preparing them for download through the web. Perfect for everything from single page receipts to multi-page forms and even entire novels, the PDF file format allows for a huge variety of options in compiling documents, images, and even multimedia content into a single, easy to distribute container. Along with this variety of uses comes a large variety of options for opening, editing, and converting PDF files as needed. Despite the increasing amount of options on the market, the number one application for reading, creating, and editing PDF files is still the original Acrobat Pro from Adobe Systems Inc.

While having increased its "footprint" in computer resources required to run the program in recent years, there are many good reasons to use Adobe Acrobat when the need to edit or convert a PDF file arises. One such reason to use Adobe Acrobat Pro is its ease of use in modifying PDF files when only a select number of pages need to be saved and/or e-mailed to another party.

Surprisingly, many people whom use Adobe Acrobat Pro on a regular basis are unaware that they can easily remove and replace single or multiple pages from a PDF file with just a few clicks of their mouse. This handy feature is great for removing select pages from a document, thereby highlighting only the pages your recipient needs to see; perfect for sending individual forms to only the people who need them, selected chapter excerpts from an early review copy of a new book, or simply removing unnecessary blank pages from a print copy of your document.

To get started modifying your PDF document to contain only your selected pages follow these steps:

(Note: This method is for use with the full version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, and will not work if you only have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have the full version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, visit Adobe for a trial download and purchasing instructions.)

Step 1. Find the Adobe Acrobat Pro icon in your Start menu and click it to open the program.

The Book of Treasures

This is my latest browser game addiction, which I am pleased to pass on to all of you!

To get started, click Play as Guest (even as a guest it has saved my progress). Then the game will load after a brief advertisement. If you’re playing at work turn your sound off with the speaker button at the top of the game.

At the bottom you’ll need to select your play style, select Quest. This will take you through the quest mode of the game, where you’ll learn the story behind the game play. Then it will whisk you off to level one where you will receive a tutorial of how to play.

The goal is to make as many words as you can from the letters that you have (like Boggle) and fill up the book spines before time runs out. The goal is to have filled in the book spine of the golden book that holds a piece of the manuscript that you are trying to put back together.

There are thirty five levels to beat. I’ve made it through eight so far. Sometimes the level gives you letters that are wicked hard to put together into words.  This adds to its replay-ability and addictive quality, I think.

The other modes of play are:

Endless – this allows you to play an endless amount of levels.

Timeless – this allows you to play without at timer.

I love word games like this, so go check it out!

Don't You Just LOVE Getting Sick?

Colds, Fevers, THE FLU? It's GREAT, Huh?

OK - It's Awful...

Bacteria is EVERYWHERE - Just Waiting to INFECT YOU!

You Have 21,000 Germs Per Square Inch On Your Desktop Alone!

AND NOW YOU CAN DESTROY THOSE GERMS WITH A LIGHT!

It's a DISINFECTING UV Scanner - And it's Here to Keep YOU Healthy!

Get Rid Of 'Em The Easy Way!

Well, this is gross:

"A microbiologist at the University of Arizona counted bacteria on workplace surfaces for a study sponsored by The Clorox Co., makers of Clorox bleach. Office toilet seats had 49 germs per square inch, he found. But desktops had almost 21,000 germs per square inch. Desks, phones, computer keyboards and mice are key germ transfer points because people touch them so often..." ~ CNN.com

YUCK!

Is That Disgusting or What??

Kill Those Gross, Grimy Germs In Seconds!!!

Ultraviolet Technology Makes It Quick, Easy and Chemical Free!

WOW! We had a tremendous response to our UV Light yesterday! Thank You to everyone who ordered! You'll be able to kill off those 21,000 germs in no time!

If you missed out, this is one product I think everyone who wants a safe, germ-free environment should have! At work, home, or anywhere - this will help keep the germs down!

Now I wouldn't classify myself as a "germophobe," but when I read studies like the one above, I think I could easily become one!

When you stop and think about all the surfaces you touch or come into contact with on a daily basis that dozens (or hundreds) of other people touch, you know there are TONS of icky, nasty germs crawling around out there! Even during the summer months - you can still get sick...

So, when I recently received a sample of this portable Disinfecting UV Scanner, I thought I'd research it a little to see what it's all about before sharing it with all of you.

After all, I'm like you - I was thinking, "could a light actually kill off germs?" That sounded like a fantasy to me too - well, I was REALLY surprised about this amazing device!Check this out:

"UV-C light is germicidal - i.e., it deactivates the DNA of bacteria, viruses and other pathogens and thus destroys their ability to multiply and cause disease. Specifically, UV-C light causes damage to the nucleic acid of microorganisms by forming covalent bonds between certain adjacent bases in the DNA. The formation of such bonds prevent the DNA from being unzipped for replication, and the organism is unable to reproduce. In fact, when the organism tries to replicate, it dies."
~ Ultraviolet.com (You can read more about it by clicking here.)

So, in a "nutshell," you can easily disinfect and sterilize just about any object you come into contact with by "swiping" the UV Scanner over it for about 10-20 seconds.

This includes bacteria and viruses such as: E-Coli, Bacillus Subtilin, Staphylococcus Auras, Hepatitis, Influenza and many other viruses as well! The kill rate is greater than 99.9%. They don't stand a chance!

Here's the great thing, this Disinfecting UV Scanner is extremely portable! It only measures about 5" folded and when it's fully opened it's about 9" in length.

It weighs less than a 1/2 lb. and even comes with a handy carrying pouch as well! You can take this with you anywhere and everywhere (discreetly if you choose) and keep bacteria and other harmful viruses away! Great for public bathrooms!

This isn't just for you desktop and keyboard either! It's safe and effective to use on your dishes, toothbrush, cell phone, kids toys, car interior, door handles, etc. You get the idea ;-)

Everyone here has been scanning their office from top to bottom since we got this in - it's still working on the same set of batteries too! You get about 4,000 scans with this on just one set - pretty amazing, huh?

When I was checking this item out, I saw that most similar products like this go for no less than $70.00 - OUCH!- some are closer to $100.00 - yikes!

Well get this, for a short time, your cost is just $14.31 and that includes FREE shipping in the US! Just think about all the money you spend on those little bottles of hand sanitizer every month - this will pay for itself in no time at all!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/4043

PS - Don't spend $70.00 elsewhere ~ And don't wait because this price will increase to $20.97! Do yourself, your coworkers and your family a favor and pick up one for your home and/or office today!

Don't forget! Every order* gets a killer LED Keychain Flashlight FREEBIE!
